In this blog you’ll read about the ups and downs, and ins and outs of travelling to France with two young children and setting up home there from scratch. Many of the posts will also introduce you to the beautiful region of Alsace: its culture, customs and cuisine.
I am an Australian mother who has decided to raise her two children bilingually French-English. As a “Francophile” (lover of the French language), I want to give my children the chance to speak French fluently.
There are many ways to introduce a second language at home – and we’ve been trying out lots – but the most effective is to immerse yourself in a country that speaks that language.
So we’re off to France for a season: escaping the summer heat to experience a winter in Alsace – the Christmas capital of France famed for its fairy tale Christmas markets.
So prepare to inhale the scent of cinnamon and nutmeg, and join our family as we exchange a dusty southern summer for winter snow and Christmas in Alsace.
